Wallen Takes Lucas Oil & Caitlin Comes Home: Your Indy Weekend
Two stadium nights of country, Caitlin Clark's home opener, and IndyCar roaring through the road course — May 8–10 in the 317.
Circle City is about to overheat. Morgan Wallen turns Lucas Oil into a two-night country takeover, Caitlin Clark and the Fever tip off the WNBA season at Gainbridge, IndyCar storms the Brickyard road course, and the Palladium and Helium round out the weekend with virtuoso ukulele and headline stand-up. Here’s how to run May 8–10 in the 317.
🎤 Morgan Wallen: Still The Problem Tour
Friday, May 8 @ 5:30 PM at Lucas Oil Stadium
Morgan Wallen turns Lucas Oil Stadium into a two-night Naptown takeover as his Still The Problem stadium run rolls into the 317. Friday’s bill is loaded — Brooks & Dunn, Hudson Westbrook, and Zach John King open before Wallen — while Saturday flips the script with Ella Langley, Flatland Cavalry, and Zach John King in support. This is one of just 21 dates on the 11-city stadium tour, so expect roof-rattling sing-alongs and a downtown that runs on Bud Light and boots all weekend. Gates open ~90 minutes before showtime, and if you don’t have tickets yet, secondary prices climb fast as showtime nears. All ages.
The Move: After the encore, hike five blocks south to Hotboys Indianapolis at 1004 Virginia Avenue in Fountain Square — they’re slinging Nashville hot chicken until 9 PM Sunday, the perfect closer for a country-stadium weekend.
🏀 Indiana Fever vs. Dallas Wings — 2026 Home Opener
Saturday, May 9 @ 1:00 PM at Gainbridge Fieldhouse
Caitlin Clark makes her official 2026 home debut as the Fever tip off the regular season against Paige Bueckers and the Dallas Wings at Gainbridge Fieldhouse — easily the biggest WNBA opening day on the calendar. The Clark vs. Bueckers matchup has been hyped for months and ABC is broadcasting nationally, but Gainbridge is where you actually want to be: rowdy fan section, cherry-and-gold everywhere, and Caitlin coming off a healthy preseason win over Nigeria. Lower-bowl seats are commanding hundreds on the secondary market, but upper-deck inventory still exists if you don’t mind the climb. Plan for a packed downtown — the Morgan Wallen show across the street loads in the same afternoon. All ages.
The Move: Gainbridge is a 12-minute walk from Hotboys Indianapolis at 1004 Virginia Avenue — grab a Hot Hot tender combo on Virginia Ave before the 1 PM tip and you’ll outlast the arena nachos by halftime.
🏎️ Sonsio Grand Prix at Indianapolis Motor Speedway
Saturday, May 9 @ 4:55 PM at Indianapolis Motor Speedway (IMS Road Course)
The road-course warm-up to the Indy 500 returns to the famed Brickyard for two days of NTT IndyCar Series action on the 14-turn, 2.439-mile layout that uses Turns 1 and 2 plus the front straight of the oval. Saturday’s 4:30 PM pre-race / 4:55 PM green flag Sonsio Grand Prix is the main event, but Friday is far from a throwaway — INDY NXT and USF Pro 2000 stack practice and racing all afternoon, and the infield is open for grid walks and paddock access. It’s the single best weekend to wander IMS without 300,000 of your closest friends, and the road-course package always delivers tighter racing than the oval. Camping, RV, and infield mound viewing are all in play. All ages.
The Move: IMS is on the west side, but Hotboys North Indy at 4335 W 106th St in Carmel is a quick 20-minute drive up Michigan Road after checkered flag — closes at 9 PM Sunday and tenders travel better than infield brats.

🎶 An Evening with Jake Shimabukuro
Friday, May 8 @ 8:00 PM at The Palladium at Allied Solutions Center for the Performing Arts, Carmel
Hawaiian ukulele virtuoso Jake Shimabukuro brings his trio into the acoustically pristine Palladium for an intimate, room-silencing showcase that has nothing to do with novelty and everything to do with jaw-dropping technique. Expect rearranged classics, original compositions, and the kind of hushed-then-thunderous applause the Carmel hall was literally engineered for. Tickets start around $26 and the venue’s center-of-Carmel location means easy parking and walkable post-show options. A great Friday-night counter-program if you want a sit-down experience instead of a stadium scrum. All ages.
The Move: The Palladium is barely a five-minute hop from Hotboys North Indy at 4335 W 106th St Suite 1300 — pre-show tenders close at 9 PM, so swing by before doors and you’ll be back in your seat with time to spare.

🎙️ DeRay Davis at Helium Comedy Club
Friday, May 8 @ 7:00 PM & 9:15 PM at Helium Comedy Club - Indianapolis
Stand-up vet, Empire and Barbershop alum, and longtime Kanye opener DeRay Davis camps out at Helium for a four-show downtown weekender that’s the comedy ticket if you’re in the 317. Davis’s loose, crowd-work-heavy sets translate ridiculously well to Helium’s intimate Georgia Street room, and his stamina across late shows means the 9:15 and 9:45 slots are usually the loosest and bluest. Run dates: Fri 7:00 & 9:15 PM, Sat 7:00 & 9:45 PM, Sun 7:00 PM. Looking for something off the main stage? Local favorite Ryan Goodcase headlines Helium Upstairs Saturday and Sunday for a smaller, scrappier alternative. Two-item food/drink minimum and a 18+ main showroom.
The Move: Helium is on West Georgia Street downtown — a 10-minute walk or two-minute Lyft from Hotboys Indianapolis at 1004 Virginia Avenue in Fountain Square. Pregame the late show with hot chicken before the kitchen closes at 9 PM.
