Nettspend at the Fox, Ballers Bash at Raimondi: The Town Goes Big May 22-24

From a sold-out rap riot at Fox Theater to three nights of Ballers baseball, an OMCA mambo party, and Kenny Lattimore at Yoshi's — the East Bay is stacked.

Nettspend at the Fox, Ballers Bash at Raimondi: The Town Goes Big May 22-24

The Town is loaded May 22-24. Rage rap is taking over the Fox, the B’s are running a three-night homestand at Raimondi, OMCA is throwing a free mambo block party on the lakefront, and Yoshi’s is serving up a grown-and-sexy two-night residency. From West Oakland to Walnut Creek, the East Bay’s got every lane covered this weekend.

🎤 Nettspend — early life crisis Tour

Friday, May 22 @ 8:00 PM

The Virginia rage rapper rolls into the Fox Theater Oakland for the Bay stop on his early life crisis tour, bringing the chaotic, mosh-pit energy that turned tracks like ‘shine n peace’ and ‘lit up’ into TikTok rap canon. Expect a young, hyped crowd packing the floor of Oakland’s most ornate room — chandeliers, gilded proscenium, and 2,800 fans screaming every ad-lib. Doors at 7, show at 8, and the Fox is cashless so tap and go. One of the loudest tickets in the East Bay this weekend.

The Move: The Fox sits at 19th and Telegraph — a ten-minute stroll from Hotboys Oakland at 1601 San Pablo Ave. Load up on tenders before the doors line wraps around the block, since the Oakland shop is open till 10pm Sun-Wed (closed Thursday-Saturday — so Friday pre-show is your window).

⚾ Oakland Ballers vs. Long Beach Coast (3-Game Series)

Friday, May 22 – Sunday, May 24

The B’s host the Long Beach Coast for a full weekend at Raimondi Park, and every night has a hook. Friday is Unauthorized Bash Bros Night — a totally-not-licensed nod to Canseco and McGwire crushing tape-measure shots in green and gold. Saturday flips into a Block Party for hometown rapper Big Ave’s album drop, with DJs, vendors, and that West Oakland summer-night feel. Sunday closes out as Toy Story 5 Day, a family-friendly afternoon themed around the new Pixar release. Tickets start around $17 and the park is intimate enough that there’s no bad seat. All ages.

The Move: Raimondi Park is at 20th and Wood in West Oakland, a quick rideshare from Hotboys Oakland at 1601 San Pablo Ave. Grab a tender combo before first pitch on Friday or Sunday (Hotboys Oakland is open Sun-Wed till 10pm), or order ahead and tailgate it from your car in the lot.

🥁 Friday Nights at OMCA: Pacific Mambo Orchestra

Friday, May 22 @ 5:00 PM – 9:00 PM

The weekly free block party at the Oakland Museum of California brings the Grammy-winning Pacific Mambo Orchestra to the lakefront patio for four hours of mambo, salsa, Latin jazz, and full-throttle big band. Off the Grid food trucks line 10th Street, beer and cocktails pour by the koi pond, and the galleries stay open late so you can wander between songs. Bring a blanket for the lawn, watch the sun drop behind Lake Merritt, and dance with strangers — this is the most quintessentially Oakland thing you can do on a Friday night. Parking is $10 flat in the OMCA garage till 10pm. All ages, free general admission.

The Move: OMCA sits at 10th and Oak in Lake Merritt, about a mile and a half south of Hotboys Oakland at 1601 San Pablo Ave. Stop in for a bird sandwich on the way over — the 510 location’s open till 10pm Sun-Wed, so a Friday pre-mambo pickup works perfectly.

🎷 Kenny Lattimore & Poncho Sanchez

Friday, May 22 & Saturday, May 23 @ 7:30 PM

R&B vocalist Kenny Lattimore and Grammy-winning conguero and Latin jazz bandleader Poncho Sanchez share the bill across a two-night stand at Yoshi’s Oakland, Jack London Square’s legendary jazz room. It’s a gorgeous pairing — Lattimore’s silk-smooth ballads riding over Sanchez’s percussion-heavy salsa and Latin jazz arrangements, the kind of show Yoshi’s was built for. Tickets run $70-$109 with full dinner service available, and the room’s intimate 400-seat layout means even the back row feels close. A grown-and-sexy alternative to the Fox Theater chaos.

The Move: Yoshi’s is on Embarcadero West in Jack London Square, about ten minutes from Hotboys Oakland at 1601 San Pablo Ave. Hit the Uptown shop for a late-afternoon snack before driving over — note Hotboys Oakland is closed on Saturday, so the Friday night show is your window for a tenders-and-jazz combo.

🎭 Something Rotten Jr.

Friday, May 22 – Sunday, May 24 @ 7:00 PM

A youth-cast staging of the Broadway hit musical comedy lands in the Hofmann Theatre at the Lesher Center for the Arts for a three-night run. Set in the Renaissance, the show follows brothers Nick and Nigel Bottom as they try to one-up Shakespeare by inventing the world’s first musical — cue jazz hands, Elizabethan rap, and a tap-dancing omelette number. It’s PG, family-friendly, and a great excuse to make a downtown Walnut Creek night of it: dinner at North Main, then the show. All ages.

The Move: The Lesher Center is on Civic Drive, a five-minute walk from Hotboys Walnut Creek at 1394 N Main St. Grab tenders for an early dinner before curtain — the Walnut Creek shop is open Sun-Wed till 10pm, so Friday and Sunday performances pair perfectly with a pre-show stop.
