💃 Dance Kaleidoscope: INFINITY ENGINE
Friday–Sunday, Jun 26–28 (Fri/Sat @ 7:00 PM, Sun @ 2:00 PM)
Dance Kaleidoscope closes its 2025/26 season with INFINITY ENGINE, a bold contemporary program anchored by a brand-new world premiere from Christel DeHaan Artistic Director Joshua Blake Carter set to the live, electro-acoustic score of composer Jordan Munson — whose work explores memory and our relationship to technology. The roughly 90-minute show (one intermission) also features Robert Battle’s electrifying ‘Train’ and Carter’s company premiere of ‘Infinity Engine’, originally commissioned by South Chicago Dance Theatre. Staged in the intimate 530-seat Tobias Theater inside the Indianapolis Museum of Art at Newfields, it’s a rare chance to see live music and cutting-edge dance share one stage. Tickets start at $35 with student and military/veteran discounts, parking is complimentary, and the program is recommended for ages 8 and up. All ages (8+).
The Move: Newfields sits on the north side, but the show begs for a post-performance debrief at Hotboys Indianapolis at 1004 Virginia Avenue in Fountain Square — open till 9pm Sun–Thurs, it’s the perfect spot to dissect that world premiere over a basket of bird.
🎹 Kroger Symphony on the Prairie: Face 2 Face — A Tribute to Billy Joel & Elton John
Friday & Saturday, Jun 26–27 @ 8:00 PM (gates 6:00 PM)
The Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra kicks off its beloved Kroger Symphony on the Prairie summer season with two nights of piano-driven rock under the stars. ‘Face 2 Face’ delivers the dueling-piano catalog of Billy Joel and Elton John — think ‘Piano Man,’ ‘Rocket Man,’ ‘Tiny Dancer’ and ‘Movin’ Out’ — backed by the full orchestra at the wide-open Conner Prairie Amphitheatre in Fishers. Pack a blanket or a low lawn chair, grab a bottle of wine, and settle onto the lawn as the sun goes down; gates open at 6 p.m. so you can picnic before the 8 p.m. downbeat. It’s the quintessential Hamilton County summer-night tradition and a perfect, all-ages way to open the season. All ages.
The Move: Conner Prairie is just up Allisonville from Carmel — line your stomach before the lawn picnic at Hotboys North Indy at 4335 W 106th St, Suite 1300 in Carmel, open till 9pm Sun–Thurs, so you’re not relying on concession lines once the orchestra strikes up.
