Red, White & The Town: Your 510 Fourth of July Weekend

First Fridays on Telegraph, Latin rock and blues legends at Yoshi's, and a hometown parade in Novato

Red, White & The Town: Your 510 Fourth of July Weekend

The 510 is running it all the way up for the long weekend. The Town’s biggest block party takes over Telegraph, Yoshi’s loads back-to-back nights of Latin rock and blues royalty, and Marin throws a hometown Fourth for the nation’s 250th. From Uptown Oakland to downtown Novato, here’s how to move July 3–5.

🎨 Oakland First Fridays: Made in the Town

Friday, Jul 3 @ 5:00 PM

The Town’s biggest block party rolls back onto Telegraph Avenue for its free July edition, and this one shines a spotlight on everything ‘Made in the Town.’ Picture up to 30,000 people filling the KONO district from West Grand to 27th, with multiple stages of live music and DJs, street artists, local makers, food vendors, and gallery doors flung open from 5 to 9:30 PM. It’s the kind of warm-night, all-ages roam-and-graze scene that defines Oakland summers — entrepreneurs, dancers, poets, and culinary artisans all packed into a few electric blocks. Show up hungry, stay for the after-glow as the kickoff to a long holiday weekend. Get the full lineup at Oakland First Fridays.

The Move: You’re practically on top of us — Hotboys Oakland at 1601 San Pablo Ave is a few blocks off the Telegraph strip in Uptown. Fuel up before you dive into the crowd, or swing through after to refuel (kitchen’s open till 10 PM).

🎺 Patron Latin Rhythms

Friday, Jul 3 @ 8:00 PM

Bring the heat to the holiday weekend with a sweaty, horn-driven night of Latin rock down at Jack London Square. Founded by Delbert Ojeda in 1993 and now led by his daughter Vanessa Ojeda, Patron Latin Rhythms blends salsa, R&B, and full-throttle Santana-style guitar, covering everyone from Malo and Poncho Sanchez to Marc Anthony, Bruno Mars, and Stevie Wonder. Yoshi’s intimate, world-class room makes it easy to get out of your seat and onto the floor. Tickets run roughly $25–$49 — a steal for this caliber of live band on a Friday. Doors at 7:30 PM, show at 8.

The Move: Yoshi’s sits in Jack London Square, a quick hop from Hotboys Oakland at 1601 San Pablo Ave. Grab a bite uptown before the 8 PM downbeat — we’re open till 10 PM Sunday through Wednesday.

🇺🇸 Novato Fourth of July Parade (Semiquincentennial)

Saturday, Jul 4 @ 10:00 AM

Marin’s quintessential hometown Fourth rolls down Grant Avenue in downtown Novato, and the 2026 edition carries extra weight with its ‘Semiquincentennial’ theme honoring the nation’s 250th birthday. Expect 15,000–20,000 spectators and over 100 entries — classic cars, vintage military vehicles, Irish bagpipers, a Chinese drum and bell corps, marching bands, and festive floats. Free pre-parade entertainment kicks off at 9 AM, so stake out a sidewalk spot early (bring your own chair). Make a morning of it with the 72nd annual Buckaroo Breakfast at the Redwood Credit Union lot, 1010 Grant Ave, from 7–10 AM.

The Move: After the parade wraps at noon, cruise over to Hotboys Novato at 5800 Nave Dr, Suite D for lunch — we open at 10 AM and run till 10 PM, perfect for a post-parade crowd with the kids in tow.

🎶 Blues Explosion: Faye Carol, Fillmore Slim, Lady Bianca & Alvon Johnson

Sunday, Jul 5 @ 7:00 PM

Close out the long weekend with a summit of bona fide Bay Area blues royalty. The Dynamic Miss Faye Carol’s powerhouse vocals, iconic bluesman Fillmore Slim, the piano stylings and soul of Lady Bianca, and award-winning entertainer Alvon Johnson share one stage, backed by a seven-piece band — a powerful musical journey through decades of soulful classics. It’s exactly the kind of legacy-artist lineup Yoshi’s built its name on, in a listening room where every note lands. Tickets run roughly $42–$69 for a Sunday night to remember.

The Move: Make it a full Jack London Square evening — start with dinner at Hotboys Oakland, 1601 San Pablo Ave in Uptown, then head down to Yoshi’s for the 7 PM show. We’re open till 10 PM Sunday.
