The Town goes full throttle July 31–August 2: Oakland Roots SC bring Super Hyphy Night to the Coliseum, Richie Rich holds down a three-night residency at Yoshi’s, and the Ballers run a themed homestand at Raimondi Park with everything from tie-dye to splash zones. Up in the North Bay, HopMonk Novato stacks the weekend with a farewell tour and a fingerstyle guitar legend — the 510 and the 101 corridor are both eating this weekend.
⚽ Oakland Roots SC vs. Pittsburgh Riverhounds — Super Hyphy Night

The Town’s own Oakland Roots SC take on the Pittsburgh Riverhounds under the lights at the Oakland Coliseum, and this one’s billed as Super Hyphy Night, a celebration of Bay Area hyphy culture (past editions brought out Keak da Sneak and Mistah F.A.B. at halftime). Roots matches are half soccer, half East Bay block party — drumlines, scarves up, and a supporters’ section that never sits down. Kickoff is 7:00 PM sharp, and the match airs on KTVU Plus and ESPN+ if you can’t make it, but trust us: this is one to see live. Tickets start around $25, so grab the whole crew.

Oakland rap royalty Richie Rich — the Town’s own, a 415 crew original who’s been repping the East Bay since the late ’80s — takes over Yoshi’s Oakland in Jack London Square for a full three-night residency with a live band, July 31 through August 2. Yoshi’s intimate room and legendary acoustics turn a rap show into something special: horns, keys, and that unmistakable Oakland drawl up close. There’s even a backstage meet-and-greet add-on each night if you want a photo with a legend. Two shows at 7:30 and 9:30 PM Friday and Saturday, plus a single 7:00 PM show Sunday means no excuses — pick your night and pull up.

The Oakland Ballers — the scrappy independent club that gave West Oakland pro baseball back — host a three-game weekend homestand against the RedPocket Mobiles at Raimondi Park, and every game has its own flavor. Friday is Grateful Dead Night (tie-dye strongly encouraged), Saturday is Ride The Rally public transit night, and Sunday afternoon is Soak The Town Sunday — the splash-zone family day. Raimondi Park is one of the most fun, affordable tickets in the Bay: local food vendors, kids running the outfield berm, and a genuine neighborhood-ballpark feel. First pitch is 6:35 Friday, 4:35 Saturday, and 1:05 Sunday.

Jewell’s smoky, surf-noir take on roots music has earned her a devoted following over two decades, and with this billed as a farewell run, North Bay fans shouldn’t sleep on it. The Cookout Series is exactly what it sounds like: beer garden, BBQ, golden-hour Marin light, and great songs. Doors and music start at 6:00 PM. Fingerstyle guitar virtuoso Andy McKee — the player whose jaw-dropping ‘Drifting’ video helped invent viral guitar culture — plays a fully seated show in HopMonk Novato’s intimate Session Room. McKee turns one acoustic guitar into an entire orchestra with percussive taps, harmonics, and two-handed wizardry that you really have to see up close to believe. Eight-string guitarist Nate Lopez opens, making it a full night of six-string (and then some) fireworks. Seated room, 8:00 PM start — this is the classy Saturday-night option for music heads in the North Bay.
