🎲 Gen Con Indy 2026

The best four days in gaming are back, and downtown Indy transforms into the tabletop capital of the world. Gen Con 2026 brings 70,000+ gamers and 570 exhibitors to the Indiana Convention Center, Lucas Oil Stadium, and every hotel lobby in between for board games, RPGs, cosplay, and the year’s most anticipated game releases. Expect the whole downtown to be buzzing — costumed crowds on Georgia Street, pop-up game demos, and late-night sessions that run until the sun comes up. Whether you’re a badge-holder grinding through a packed event schedule or just downtown to people-watch the cosplay parade, this is the Circle City’s biggest weekend of the summer. All ages. Runs Thursday July 30 through Sunday August 2; exhibit hall open daily.

🚂 Train with Barenaked Ladies & Matt Nathanson — Drops of Jupiter: 25 Years in The Atmosphere Tour

Train is celebrating 25 years of “Drops of Jupiter” with a stacked triple bill at Ruoff Music Center, joined by Canadian legends Barenaked Ladies and singer-songwriter Matt Nathanson. Expect a full night of sing-along hits — “Hey, Soul Sister,” “Drops of Jupiter,” “Drive By,” plus “One Week” and “If I Had $1000000” from the BNL catalog. Lawn tickets start around $32–40, making this one of the best value amphitheater nights of the summer. 🕺 Bop To The Top: A 2000s Disney Channel Dance Party with Lucas Grabeel

The LA-born touring dance party that’s been selling out rooms across the country lands at Old National Centre, and this one comes with real Wildcat credentials — Lucas Grabeel, aka Ryan Evans from High School Musical himself, co-hosts alongside DJ Jeffery. Expect wall-to-wall 2000s Disney Channel nostalgia: HSM, Hannah Montana, Camp Rock, Cheetah Girls, all of it. Tickets start around $43 and doors open at 8 PM for the 9 PM party. The Indianapolis Shakespeare Company closes out its summer run of King Lear with final performances Friday and Saturday night at the gorgeous restored Taggart Memorial Amphitheatre in Riverside Park. It’s completely free — picnic-style seating means you bring the blankets and lawn chairs, and food vendors are on site. Indy Shakes has built a reputation for making the Bard accessible and electric, and Lear under an open August sky is about as dramatic as outdoor theater gets. Shows run 8 to 10 PM, and this is the last chance to catch it before it’s gone. All ages.

🎸 Cool Creek Concert Series: Midtown Madmen

Hamilton County’s beloved Cool Creek Concert Series rolls on with the Midtown Madmen, Indianapolis’ premier ’50s rock ‘n’ roll band, bringing doo-wop and early rock classics to the Cool Creek Park amphitheater at 2000 E. 151st Street. Gates open at 6 PM, music starts at 7, and admission is just $5 for adults with kids 12 and under free — one of the best cheap family nights on the north side. Pack lawn chairs and a cooler and let the kids run while the band plays. It’s a Friday-night summer staple for Carmel and Westfield families for good reason. All ages.
